Wilderness Tour

After your private hotel / home pickup we head west out of Sydney and into the Blue Mountains. We leave the tarmac near the Zig Zag Railway and enter the Newnes State Forest, This area is still an active forest and logging trucks are a regular site. After we enjoy morning tea we take a short stroll to “The Lost City” where you will marvel at these ancient rock formations rising out of the valley. The only access to this beautiful area is by 4wd so not many people get to view this incredible area.

Now we have an option depending on whether you enjoy bush walking or would rather experience this fascinating area from the comfort of the 4wd. Option 1 – We drive to The Glow Worm Tunnel for a picnic lunch then walk to the disused rail tunnel which is home to millions of glow worms which crawl all over the walls and roof, the walk is rated as easy and takes around 30 -40 minutes each way depending on your fitness level. Quality headlamps are provided for your safety and a spare pair of shoes is recommended as you will need to walk through shallow water in the tunnel.
Option 2 – We drive down the escarpment and stop for a picnic lunch before heading out to the old township of Newnes to view the ruins of this once bustling town. After an easy walk around we can all rest in air conditioned comfort as your driver guide delivers you safely back to Sydney by approximately 6:00pm.
