3 Day Mountains Escape

3 Day Mountain Escape Long Weekend

This is a great trip for those winter months as the air is clear in the mountains but we have the benefit of staying in a nice warm pub. We start our tour in Bathurst and head towards Hill End along the bridle track. This is a nice soft introduction to a trip that is forever building in intensity and difficulty. After we reach Hill End there is time for a quiet lunch in the park and the opportunity for a self guided tour through the town. We then head to Sofala where again there will be opportunity to reflect on how life would have been in the Gold Rush. We leave the black top once more and follow the Turon River through local cattle properties and finish off the afternoon by the river at Capertee before heading to the Capertee Pub for a warm meal and a cold beer.

Day two takes us south through some spectacular valleys and gorges with incredible views over the Turon National Park. There will be some interesting optional extras for those looking for a little more and many challenging hill climbs to get the heart rate up a few beats. During the afternoon we enter the Sunny Corner State Forest before heading back to the pub for an early dinner. Day three sees us pack our bags and head east. We enter Newnes State Forest for what will be our trickiest day yet. Today will be full of hill climbs, rock steps and plenty of mud if it rains. We finish the afternoon with a short walk to the Lost City. View these spectacular rock structures that stand tall, reaching out of a deep valley like sky scrapers. We say our goodbyes at approximately 3:30pm at the Zig Zag Railway after a thoroughly adventurous weekend.
